I am kind because I have been treated with unspeakable cruelty. I am patient because I know how it feels to be treated like an inconvenience. I am generous because I know what it means to have absolutely nothing.
In speaking out, and in helping others be seen and heard, I am taking a past that could have created bitterness and fueled anger and turning it into something that can foster healing and promote love. Instead of living in denial, I seek to give my broken pieces a purpose far beyond myself. I seek to build gratitude within myself for the hard things that have shaped me, while enabling others to do the same for themselves. The expression of pain can so often be the most beautiful art.
